In the district of Peshawar, Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) continues its work through a community-driven, bottom-up approach, with active presence in 32 out of 92 union councils. To promote Social Mobilization and Community-Institution Building, 906 Community Organizations (COs) have been formed, including 605 male (MCOs) and 301 female (WCOs). These organizations represent 21,251 households, contributing to grassroots participation. Additionally, SRSP has supported 45 Village Organizations (VOs) (33 MVOs and 12 WVOs) and 7 LSOs, laying the foundation for empowered and organized communities.
Under SRSP’s commitment to capacity building, 47,660 beneficiaries (30,133 men and 17,527 women) have received training. This includes 37,224 managerial and 10,436 vocational trainees, aimed at strengthening local leadership and economic opportunities, especially for the vulnerable and women.
As part of Enabling Infrastructure, SRSP has completed 551 community physical infrastructure (CPI) schemes in the region. These include 38 drinking water supply schemes (DWSS), 27 communication projects, 95 irrigation schemes, 2 soil conservation projects, 3 IAUP, and 233 sanitation-related schemes. The total investment in these projects is over PKR 270 million, directly benefiting 135,904 households and supporting WASH, agriculture, and climate adaptation goals.
Through the microfinance programme, SRSP has disbursed PKR 791.91 million in microcredit, reaching 35,128 beneficiaries. The Community Investment Fund (CIF) has provided PKR 158.29 million to 10,101 beneficiaries, enabling small-scale enterprises and financial inclusion.
Amplifying the voices of women and girls, SRSPs gender programme aims to challenge inequality and safeguard rights. Over 12,000 women and girls accessed WGFS, while 11,000+ individuals participated in awareness sessions. SRSP conducted 1,195 community sessions, established 2 referral pathways, and referred 333 GBV survivors for specialized care, including advanced mental health support. Services reached 2,656 women and girls with disabilities, 2,085 dignity kits were distributed, and 3 CBPGs (Community-based protection groups) were formed.
