Charsadda

In Charsadda district, Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) continues to make a meaningful impact by working closely with communities and promoting local leadership. The organization is actively engaged in 47 out of 49 union councils, where it supports residents in shaping their development through inclusive and community-driven approaches.

To strengthen community networks, SRSP has helped form 1,705 Community Organizations (COs)—including 1,262 male and 443 female groups—which now represent over 40,000 households. These groups provide a platform for people to come together, identify local needs, and plan collective actions. In addition, 48 Village Organizations and 7 Local Support Organizations (LSOs) have been set up to support wider coordination and long-term development at the village and union council levels.

Training and skills development remain a key focus. So far, 34,232 people have received training through SRSP in Charsadda. This includes 25,171 individuals trained in community management and leadership (with strong female participation), and 9,061 individuals who gained vocational skills to help them find jobs or start their businesses.

In terms of basic infrastructure, SRSP has carried out 762 projects that improve everyday life. These include 314 clean drinking water schemes, 82 communication routes, 136 irrigation projects, and 175 sanitation-related initiatives, among others. These efforts—funded with more than PKR 327 million—have benefited over 65,000 households, making essential services more accessible and helping communities better cope with challenges like water scarcity and poor sanitation.

SRSP also supports people financially through its microfinance services. In Charsadda, it has provided PKR 238.94 million in small loans to 6,303 individuals so they can invest in their businesses or livelihoods. Through the Community Investment Fund (CIF), another PKR 159.89 million has been disbursed to 9,312 beneficiaries, giving them a chance to improve their income and stability.
