Project Brief

SRSP with the financial assistance of PATRIP Foundation is implementing a bridges project in Lower Chitral.

Objective

The specific objective of this project is “To improve economic and social welfare of people living along the Pak-Afghan border by improving communication infrastructure in District Chitral”.

The completion of the two suspension bridges of PATAI and URSOON along with connecting road will reduce the travel cost and travel time for the population of Ursoon village; The expected number of beneficiaries is around 40,000 including 15,000 direct beneficiaries and 25,000 indirect beneficiaries. Hence key objectives of this project include:

  • Improved, upgraded, and maintained regional transport infrastructure
  • Improved access to health and education services
  • Improved economic opportunities for the people on both sides of the border due to a better access to local markets.

Progress Update of Activities

  • 5 Community Based Organizations formed under this project
  • 20 men have completed skill training in Wood Carving.
  • Operation and maintenance training event has been arranged for the CBOs.
