
To improve the living conditions and provide better livelihoods opportunities to the host and Afghan communities living in district Kohat, SRSP in collaboration with Care International Pakistan has successfully completed the "WAQAR” project. This project was funded by the European Union in Pakistan , financed through UNOPs Pakistan and supported by Care International in Pakistan.
To celebrate the achievements of the community members the project closing and toolkit distribution ceremony was organized at SRSP’s HRDC, where the Country Director Care International, representatives from UNOPs, Afghan Commissionerate, CEO SRSP and members from the host and Afghan community participated.
The WAQAR project has provided vocational and skills training to 100 women and 50 men and assisted 100 trainees in getting jobs and starting their small businesses. Additionally, 646 women received poultry kits, livestock kits, and kitchen gardening kits and received training on livestock, poultry, and kitchen gardening to help them excel in these businesses. To improve WASH facilities 2 water supply schemes and 10 hand pumps have been restored and installed in communal and health facilities, benefiting over #28 thousand Afghan refugees and host community population. Furthermore, over #4,129 women participated in sessions on #health and #hygiene, #breastfeeding, and #gender-based violence.
