Social Mobilization and Community Institution Building

Empowering Communities, Building Inclusive Futures

Summary

SRSP acts as a catalyzing force to help unlock the full potential of otherwise self-reliant communities by facilitating them in the formation of inclusive and representative community institutions. These institutions are to be guided by principles of inclusivity, participation, social and gender equity, and downward accountability.

organizations, with 30,355 men and 14,395 women members representing 1,059,903 populations across KP. In addition to the CBOs, SRSP also organizes and builds capacities of citizen groups around specific themes. These include men and women groups for promoting prevention of gender-based violence, child protection advocacy, primary health care management committees, parent teacher councils, WASH, jirgas, and common interest/business groups.

The formation of 2,702 village level organizations (VOs) and 187 LSOs within the community, has helped nurture more than 366000 members, fostering sustainable community development, continuous empowerment and active involvement of communities within local planning and development initiatives. Coupled with capacity building initiative, formation of CBOs and citizen groups has also enabled local leadership to plan, design, implement, and sustain interventions for realizing common objectives.
