Project Brief

Most of the population in Waziristan, particularly those with very limited financial resources, lack access to basic healthcare facilities in their rural areas. They cannot afford expensive treatments and surgeries offered by private hospitals in big cities, which are also far away from their localities.

Objective

All that makes life even more difficult for them and their families. Hence the project focuses on Health Care – to target and facilitate poor deprived community members (Patients) with needful medical treatment and surgeries.

The main objective of this project is to identify poor and most vulnerable families in Waziristan and provide them free surgical treatments. The patients are initially screened at the Health Care Facilities (HFCs) which is then followed by the final screening by medical consultants (Specialized Doctors) sitting at Bannu. Upon endorsement from the Consultants, the patients are referred to the relevant hospital.

MOUs have been signed with three hospitals including;

  • North West General Hospital Peshawar
  • Peshawar Institute of Cardiology
  • Shifa Medical and Surgical Center Bannu

Progress Update of Activities

  • The project has so far treated a total of 133 patients by providing free of cost surgeries and medical procedures. The treated patients include 32% male, 33% females and 35% children.
  • Upon successful treatment, each patient is given PKR 15,000 in TA/DA mainly for their transportation.
  • An online dashboard has been developed to reflect each patient’s details and impact stories.
