SRSP, in partnership with the British Council, has launched the ILMpact programme (Khilo aur Barho) to improve access to education and enhance learning outcomes for girls and marginalized children in the newly merged districts of Khyber and Mohmand. These districts continue to lag behind the rest of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on key education indicators due to decades of conflict, limited infrastructure, and deep-rooted socio-cultural barriers. ILMpact seeks to address these challenges by strengthening school systems, mobilizing communities, and creating safer, more inclusive learning environments for out-of-school and underserved children. The project commenced in January 2025 and will conclude by March 2027.
Following the signing of the agreement, SRSP initiated the mandatory government approval process. A formal request for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) was submitted to the Relief, Rehabilitation & Settlement Department in January 2025. All departmental templates and procedural requirements—including the comprehensive project application, budget details, and signed agreement—were completed and submitted as per government guidelines.
Parallel to this, SRSP has completed the groundwork required for implementation. The project team has been recruited and deployed across the target districts. Through close coordination with education department officials, the team has identified villages, tehsils, and schools where interventions will take place. These preparatory activities ensure that ILMpact will begin operations swiftly and effectively once the official NOC is granted. The implementation phase will introduce community mobilization, school improvement initiatives, and tailored learning support for girls and marginalized children—creating pathways for stronger enrolment, retention, and educational progression in some of KP’s most underserved regions.
The objective of the ILMpact (Khilo aur Barho) programme is to improve access to education and enhance learning outcomes for girls and marginalized children in the newly merged districts of Khyber and Mohmand. The project aims to strengthen school systems, mobilize communities, and create safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments, particularly for out-of-school and underserved children, enabling increased enrolment, retention, and educational progression.
