To restore education in the flood-affected districts of Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber and Mohmand, SRSP successfully implemented the Bringing Children Back to School project.
The project improved infrastructure in 370 government schools, increased enrolment by 22.49%, trained over 2,500 teachers and Parent Teacher Council members in child-friendly education, school governance, and psychosocial support, and distributed thousands of learning, hygiene, and teaching kits. Library corners were also established in all target schools to encourage reading among students.
A Provincial Dissemination Workshop was held yesterday in Peshawar to highlight the programme’s achievements in flood-affected areas. The event was attended by the Special Secretary Education, Additional Secretary of the Education Department, CEO SRSP, CEO RSPN, Team Leader ILM Pact, representatives from UNICEF, Save the Children, GIZ, District Education Officers, Parent Teacher Councils, and community members. This project was funded by the UK Government through the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) through the Rural Support Programmes Network (RSPN) Pakistan.
The initiative not only restored access to education for thousands of children but also strengthened community ownership and institutional capacity laying the foundation for long-term educational resilience in KP.
