Communities residing in one of the remotest mountainous districts of KP have gained access to uninterrupted and affordable electricity. A 500 KW Micro Hydro Power (MHP) station has been established here, benefitting over 1,350 households in village Jaloo, Dassu, District Upper Kohistan.
The power house was formally inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner Kohistan Upper and CEO SRSP, the District Police Officer (DPO), representatives of PEDO and community elders. SRSP with financial support from Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO) constructed the 500 KW power house. The local communities warmly welcomed the power house and are using electricity for both domestic and commercial purposes. The power house also supplies electricity to schools, hospitals and the District Headquarter.
During the inauguration ceremony, the Deputy Commissioner and community members appreciated the efforts of SRSP and PEDO. CEO SRSP emphasized the importance of collective community action to overcome development challenges in the area and to keep the power house sustainable.
