The Ambassador of the European Union in Pakistan visited two Micro Hydro Power Stations, namely Jungle-Inn (400 KW) and Ashuran (1.2 MW), located in Kalam valley.
These power stations are the only source of electricity in the Kalam Valley, providing uninterrupted electricity to over 2,652 domestic and 578 commercial units (hotels, shops, etc.) in the valley. These power units were restored and upgraded by SRSP with EU assistance under the PEACE Programme. Later, the Ambassador met with community elders, men and women members of the Kalam hotels association, and farmers of the Gladiolus value chain. The EU Ambassador appreciated the efforts being made under the EU PEACE program and assured support to capitalize on it.
