In the district of Nowshera, the Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) continues to advance its mission through a community-led, participatory development model, maintaining an active presence in 32 out of 47 union councils. As part of its Social Mobilization and Community Institutional Development efforts, SRSP has facilitated the formation of 867 Community Organizations (COs)—comprising 646 male (MCOs) and 221 female (WCOs) groups—representing a total of 20,527 households. In addition, 49 Village Organizations (VOs) (including 37 MVOs and 12 WVOs) and 7 Local Support Organizations (LSOs) have been established, fostering grassroots governance and collective decision-making.
To strengthen local capacities, SRSP has delivered extensive training programmes, reaching 14,833 individuals, including 6,952 managerial trainees (4,154 men and 2,798 women) and 7,881 vocational trainees (1,732 men and 1,995 women). These initiatives aim to enhance leadership, employability, and economic resilience, particularly among marginalized groups and women.
In the area of Community Physical Infrastructure (CPI), SRSP has successfully implemented 593 infrastructure schemes across multiple sectors. These include 80 drinking water supply schemes, 13 communication projects, 149 irrigation schemes, 19 soil conservation projects, 73 IAUP initiatives, and 143 sanitation schemes. The total investment in these projects amounts to PKR 287.16 million, directly benefiting over 93,641 households while contributing to improved WASH services, agricultural productivity, and climate resilience.
Through its microfinance programme, SRSP has disbursed PKR 351.42 million in microcredit, supporting 15,182 beneficiaries in establishing and expanding income-generating activities. Furthermore, the Community Investment Fund (CIF) has extended PKR 181.06 million to 11,239 beneficiaries, fostered inclusive economic growth, and promoted sustainable livelihoods at the community level.
SRSPs gender programme aims to challenge inequality and safeguard rights. Over 16,000 women and girls accessed WGFS, while 17,000+ individuals participated in awareness sessions. SRSP conducted 1,175 community sessions and referred 248 GBV survivors for specialized care, including advanced mental health support. Services reached 468 women and girls with disabilities, and 1,880 dignity kits were distributed.
