The Merged District Waziristan lies between the Kurram River and the Gomal River. It borders the Paktia, and Paktika provinces of Afghanistan in the west. SRSP has established a robust development framework in one of the remotest Merged District South Waziristan, implementing its programs in 18 of the district’s 29 union councils. The organization has successfully mobilized local communities through the formation of 481 Community Organizations, including 423 male and 58 female organizations, collectively representing 9,460 households. This institutional infrastructure has been strengthened through the creation of 4 male Village Organizations and 1 Local Support Organization, establishing critical platforms for participatory governance and decision-making at the grassroots level.
Capacity development initiatives have achieved significant impact, reaching 8,066 beneficiaries through comprehensive training programs. Leadership and managerial training have been provided to 2,495 participants, comprising 2,143 men and 352 women, while vocational skills development programs have benefited 5,571 individuals, including 3,692 men and 1,879 women. These training outcomes demonstrate SRSP’s commitment to balanced development, with women representing 34% of vocational trainees despite the challenging cultural context.
The infrastructure development portfolio includes 209 completed projects with a total investment of PKR 491.09 million. This substantial program encompasses 80 drinking water supply systems, 11 communication projects, 46 irrigation schemes, and 30 sanitation facilities, along with 22 other community development initiatives. These interventions have directly improved living conditions for 20,354 households, addressing fundamental needs in water access, agricultural productivity, and public health infrastructure.
