
SRSP has implemented a comprehensive development program across all 12 union councils of Lower Kohistan district, achieving full coverage and demonstrating its commitment to inclusive growth in this challenging mountainous area. The organization has successfully established 679 Community Organizations, consisting of 482 male groups (MCOs) and 197 female groups (WCOs), representing 16,036 households. This extensive network of community institutions forms the backbone of SRSP’s grassroots mobilization efforts in the district.
The institutional framework extends to the village level with the formation of 20 Village Organizations, including 15 male groups (MVOs) and 5 female groups (WVOs), supported by 2 Local Support Organizations (LSOs). This multi-tiered structure facilitates effective community participation in local development planning and decision-making processes, ensuring that development initiatives are responsive to local needs.
Capacity building remains a cornerstone of SRSP’s approach in Lower Kohistan, with 4,965 individuals receiving training through various programs. This includes 3,641 participants in managerial training (2,253 men and 1,388 women) and 1,324 in vocational training (800 men and 524 women). These initiatives have significantly enhanced both leadership capabilities and practical skills among community members, with special emphasis on empowering women in this traditionally conservative region.
In the infrastructure sector, SRSP has completed 100 community projects with a total investment of PKR 141.65 million. These interventions include 72 drinking water supply schemes that address critical water needs, 1 communication project improving connectivity, 8 irrigation schemes supporting agricultural development, 6 sanitation projects enhancing public health, and 12 micro-hydro projects providing renewable energy solutions. Collectively, these projects have directly benefited 8,763 households in Lower Kohistan, substantially improving access to basic services and infrastructure in this remote district.
