Khyber District was an agency of the erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas. With the merger of FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2018, it became a merged District. It ranges from the Tirah valley down to Peshawar. SRSP has implemented an extensive development program across Merged District Khyber, operating in 21 of its 28 union councils. The organization has established a robust institutional framework through the formation of 327 Community Organizations, comprising 276 Male COs and 51 Female COs, representing 5,783 households. This network has been further strengthened by 4 Male Village Organizations and 2 Local Support Organizations, creating a structured platform for community-led development initiatives in the region.
The capacity-building component has made significant progress, reaching 7,083 beneficiaries through comprehensive training programs. Managerial training has been provided to 3,436 participants (2,605 men and 831 women), while vocational skills training has benefited 3,647 individuals (2,627 men and 1,020 women). These programs demonstrate SRSP’s commitment to gender-inclusive development, with women constituting 26% of managerial trainees and 28% of vocational trainees, notable achievements in this conservative tribal context.
Infrastructure development has been a major focus area, with 298 completed Community Physical Infrastructure schemes representing an investment of PKR 741.5 million. The portfolio includes 111 drinking water supply systems, 2 communication projects, 2 irrigation schemes, and 24 sanitation initiatives, among others. These projects have directly improved living conditions for 54,362 households, addressing critical needs in water access, sanitation, and community development.
