SRSP has recently signed an agreement for the project “Improvement of the Darpa Khel Pak-Afghan Trade Transit Facilitation Centre in Miranshah North” which aims for the “Contribution to stabilization and/or prevention of extremist violence.
Objective
The financed measures and services are being used by the target group and the economic and social prospects in the project region have improved.
Cross-border exchange and cooperation between different social groups of the local population have improved.
The expected results of this project include:
Implementation of infrastructure related training measures including the cross-cutting theme of conflict prevention.
Construction and rehabilitation of social and economic infrastructure.
With a total project duration of 36 months, the anticipated numbers of beneficiaries are 7,000 direct and 64,400 indirect..
Progress Update of Activities
The project will improve physical infrastructure of the facilitation center. It will construct facilities such as Jirga Hall, Restaurant and offices, Guard rooms and Toilet Block, Sheds for storage material, Footpath pavement, Solarized DWSS, Solar Street lights, loading unloading area pavement, Solarization of the facilitation centre (15 KV), Drain, Breast wall and Provision of need based furniture and equipment.
It is anticipated that the improvement of the Darpa Khel Pak-Afghan Trade Transit Facilitation Center and capacity building of its members and provision of basic equipment can have a multifaceted positive impact on trade, local economy, job creation and overall development of the area. The improved facilities and infrastructure can make the Darpa Khel Pak-Afghan Trade Transit Facilitation Center more attractive and competitive. This can attract more vendors and customers, leading to a booming market with a diverse range of products.
